Principal's Message
A Word from the Desk of Dr. D. Ramesh
Dr. D. Ramesh holds a Ph.D in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Madras (2006), a Master of Engineering with specialisation in Machine Design from PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore, and a Graduation degree from the Institute of Engineers (India), Calcutta. He cleared GATE in both 1996 and 1997, securing the 94th percentile โ a marker of the academic rigour he brings to everything he does.
๐ 19 years of combined teaching, research, and industry experience have shaped his approach to engineering education โ one that insists on depth, not just coverage. He has published 9 international journals, 5 national journals, and presented at 12 national and international conferences. He has guided and evaluated numerous B.Tech and M.Tech projects across disciplines.
โ๏ธ Before returning to academia, Dr. Ramesh worked in the United Kingdom with Magellan Aerospace Ltd on the Airbus 370M programme as a Senior Fatigue Engineer โ bringing firsthand industry experience into the classroom that few principals can claim. His research areas span fatigue analysis, surface coating, tribology, friction, and wear.
๐ He is a Fellow Member of the Institution of Engineers (India) and received a scholarship from the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, during his Master’s and Ph.D studies.
At VCET, his conviction is simple โ an engineer must be trained to think, not just to answer. That belief shapes how we teach, what we demand, and what our graduates carry with them when they leave.
